ABOUT LENA

Lena-Camille Otalora (they/she) is a producer, creative director, writer, art director, photographer, and filmmaker based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Born and raised in Miami, Fl, Lena spends a great deal of time thinking about the ocean.

After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Film & TV Production from Boston University, Lena spent their time working in production, marketing, and communications in the Boston area. While working for local organization Black Boston in 2020, Lena was promoted to Director of Marketing and Communications, leading a wonderful team of creatives. In 2021, they made the cross-country move to Oakland, CA, where they are an independent filmmaker, freelance producer and art director, multi-media artist, and Media Producer with Imagine Learning Studios US in Petaluma, CA. Lena mainly splits their time between, the Bay Area, LA, and San Diego.

Having also earned a minor in Comparative Literature from Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences, Lena can be spotted in the Bay Area reading their poetry for local crowds. You can read two of their poems published in Root Work Journal’s second issue, “Navigating the Ocean.” You can also find Lena hosting Bay Area creative meet-ups and open mic jams!
